OU Football: Sooners celebrate with Independence Day commitment from California defensive back


Oklahoma received some recruiting fireworks on Wednesday night when cornerback Darion Green-Warren committed to the Sooners’ 2020 class.

The junior-to-be from Santa Ana, Calif., announced his decision via social media on Independence Day.

Green-Warren is the fourth member of the 2020 class. He’s joined by running back Jase McClellan and Jaylan Knighton as well as Drew Sanders, a high school quarterback who was recruited to play tight end or inside receiver.

Green-Warren, a 6-foot, 173-pound quarterback, is a four-star recruit according to Rivals. He also held scholarship offers from Arizona, Florida, Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, UCLA and USC.

The cornerback grew up in Edmond before moving to California. He is currently considered the nation’s No. 80 overall player in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
