Saudi Arabia troops participate in joint military drills in Turkey


Saudi Arabia forces arrived in Turkey’s western city of Izmir on Friday to take part in the “EFES 2018″ military exercises scheduled to launch in May next, state news agency SPA reported today. The drills are scheduled to take place from 7 – 8 May.

On the arrival, SPA explained, the Saudi troops were received by the Military Attaché, at the Saudi Embassy in Ankara, Rear-Admiral Pilot Khalid Bin Hussein Al-Assaf, and the commander officer of the exercise, Commodore Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Diraibi.

The multipartite and multi-national exercise, Al-Assaf said, is considered one of the biggest military drills in the world, in terms of participating forces’ number and diversity of its nature and fields.

On his part, Al-Diraibi said that the exercise aims at exchanging military expertise among the participating countries, training soldiers to plan and coordinate joint operations in different operational environments, increasing combat efficiency and enhancing military cooperation.
