Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes, and the Seahawks clinched the NFC West by cruising past the overmatched Rams Thursday night, 24-3.

The Rams blew some chances to take the lead early and to keep it close later, but an inspired effort three days after the firing of coach Jeff Fisher wasn’t enough. The Rams just don’t have enough offense to keep up.

A 57-yard Wilson touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett early in the fourth quarter made it 24-3 and sealed what was probably already known. The Seahawks had a 93-yard scoring drive in the second quarter, led 10-3 at halftime and moved it pretty much at will in the second half.

The Rams had 93 total yards through three quarters. A bad night got worse when rookie quarterback Jared Goff took a big hit from Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman in the fourth quarter and left the game to be evaluated for a possible concussion.

Wilson threw for 229 yards and also threw touchdown passes to Luke Willson and Doug Baldwin. The Seahawks sacked Goff five times.

Up 21 in the fourth quarter Seahawks punter Jon Ryan took off on a 33-yard run on a fake punt. He converted the first down but may have suffered a concussion after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from Troy Hill. Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was also evaluated for a possible concussion in the fourth quarter.

After scoring on a 93-yard drive in the first half, the Seahawks drove 62 yards in eight plays in the third quarter to extend their lead to 17-3 on a 1-yard pass to Baldwin. Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll used three challenges in the first 18 minutes and won two of them. He didn’t need them later.

Goff threw for 135 yards and rarely threw without being hit by Seahawks’ defenders. The Rams finished with 173 total yards and were 3-of-13 in trying to convert third downs.

The Seahawks improve to 9-4-1. The Rams are 4-10.
